Young Artist Awards 2023

Open to all Massachusetts high school students (students who live in MA or attend school in MA).

UMass Young Artist Awards is an online event created by the music performance faculty at UMass to provide younger artists with opportunities to perform, compete, and receive professional feedback, while furthering their classical music studies.


UMass Young Artist Awards 2023 is open to high school students who are residents of Massachusetts or who attend school in Massachusetts. Applicants must have a social security number. Applicants must not be under professional management. Previous 1st place winners are not eligible for future prizes in their winning category.

AWARDS   (Cash prizes unless stated otherwise)

10th and 11th grade students
1st Place: $1000; 2nd Place: $500; 3rd Place: $250

Woodwinds and Brass
1st place: $1000; 2nd place: $500; 3rd place: $250
Category awards: Area awards from sponsors to be announced

1st place: $1000; 2nd place: $500; 3rd place: $250
Honorable Mentions: $100 gift certificates will be awarded by Stamell Strings

*Funding will be disbursed in accordance with University policies and may be subject to state and
federal taxes. No other disbursement arrangements will be made.

All entrants will receive written feedback from University of Massachusetts jurors and guests.
Winning video submissions may be posted on UMass Department of Music & Dance website, YouTube
Channel and other social media, subject to the discretion of the UMass Department of Music and Dance.


Application deadline: The completed application with YouTube submissions and application fee
must be received by May 15, 2023, 11:59 PM. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Video recording submissions should be sent electronically via link to YouTube. Links should be included
on your online application form.

Application Fee: $35.00 USD * (non-refundable) by PayPal. Applications will not be considered complete without the application fee.
