Spring 2021 Dance Program COVID Agreement for In-Person Classes
Protocols for in-person dance classes and rehearsals:
•Masking required for all individuals at all times, including while dancing
•Social distancing of 12 ft
•No contact or close dancing permitted
•Limit to no more than 5 individuals in Totman 204 and 20 individuals in Totman 202.
•Classes and rehearsals of no more than 60 minutes
•30-minute room vacancy between each class/rehearsal to allow for adequate air exchange
•Disinfection of dance floors and all touch surfaces cleaned after each class/rehearsal
All students participating in face-to-face classes or rehearsals must adhere to these procedures:
Follow the UMass testing guidelines: getting tested 2X per week.
If you test positive or come into contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19, contact the Dance Program Director immediately and follow isolation, quarantine, and contact tracing guidelines: https://ehs.umass.edu/sites/default/files/UMass%20Amherst%20COVID-19%20Testing%20and%20Next%20Steps.pdf
All faculty and students testing positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed back to in-person classes, rehearsals, or performances until the 10-day isolation is complete and you are 48 hours symptom free. We strongly recommend you stay remote for an additional week after your isolation period.
If a student or faculty member participating in face-to-face classes or rehearsals tests positive, all in-person classes and rehearsals will be remote for a minimum of one week. Tech/performance weeks will be considered based on university recommendations.
Though we cannot mandate behaviors outside of the classroom, we encourage all Dance majors to use caution and common sense in social settings. We also encourage a sense of responsibility to your community of peers and professors in the Dance Program. In these times, in-person instruction is a privilege and carries a great responsibility with it. Your decisions not only affect you- they have an impact on all of us. Remember: masks, sanitize your hands, 6-feet apart, caution and common sense.
Questions about a specific class? Contact your faculty/instructor.
Questions about undergraduate schedule or degree planning? Contact your advisor or the Director of the Dance Program (tvacanti@dance.umass.edu)
