Britney Alcine, a UMass graduate student studying orchestral conducting, has been awarded a full scholarship to attend the Eastman Leadership Academy in Rochester, NY on June 23-26.

Last week, Jessica Embry ‘07MM passed away following her heroic efforts which helped save two children from drowning off the coast of North Carolina. A native of Clarksburg, WV, Jessica earned her Master’s in Music Theory from UMass Amherst in 2007.

Presenting a video tribute to longtime music professor and Fine Arts Center Director Dr. Frederick Tillis at the one-year anniversary of his passing, via YouTube at 7PM, April 30 prior to the Jazz Showcase at 7:30 PM.

The Bach Festival and Symposium will take place April 20 - 25 in an virtual format. UMass students and faculty will be joined by top performers and researchers in celebrating the music & legacy of J.S. Bach. 

Jazz Professor Felipe Salles has been selected to present a Distinguished Faculty Lecture: “The New Immigrant Experience: The Creation of a Multi-Media Jazz Work,” on April 28 at 4pm.

On April 2, UMass Professor of Violin Elizabeth Chang released her new CD, Transformations, on Albany Records, with music by Kirchner, Sessions & Schoenberg.
