Two ensembles from the Jazz & African-American Music Studies Program garnered awards in Downbeat Magazine’s 2018 Student Music Awards (SMA’s): Chris Foe Project & Brazilian Jazz Combo.

The UMass Amherst Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development (TEFD) has announced that Assistant Professor of Saxophone Jonathan Hulting-Cohen is one of this year’s Lilly Fellows for Teaching Excellence.

Kelsey Elizabeth Saulnier's (BFA Dance '18) dance titled "Small Memory" has been selected for inclusion at the National College Dance Festival on June 7-9, 2018 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Felipe Salles, associate professor of jazz studies, composition and saxophone at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has been selected to receive a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship.
