Cancellation/Postponement Information for Faculty

If the University closes due to weather or other circumstance, our Department events are also cancelled. You can check whether campus is closed at, by phone (413- 545-3630), or on Twitter (@UMassAmherst). Notice of cancellations of Music & Dance Department events will be posted on our web calendar, our Facebook page (@UMassMusicDance), and our event information phone line (413-577-2154). Notice of any cancellation will also be communicated directly to all faculty and staff by email.

For Faculty/Guest Artist Concerts and Ensemble Concerts:

After receiving an email notice of a cancellation, the faculty coordinator of that event is responsible for communicating directly with all students and performers impacted by the cancellation.

If an event that you are helping to coordinate is in danger of cancellation for any reason, please contact Matt Longhi, Eric Roth, and Facilities Coordinator Ryan Dominik as far in advance as possible, so that the Chair can give final approval and alternate dates can be discussed.

Note: In some circumstances, the Chair may decide to postpone or cancel an event if the campus remains open, or to go ahead with a performance even if campus is closed. In those rare cases, we will notify all faculty and staff following the protocol listed above.
