Kevin Sloan '16MM (Violin Performance), passed away on April 3, 2024 from a brain tumor. He was a brilliant violinist and truly beloved member of the UMass community. He played Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the UMass Symphony Orchestra as winner of the Concerto Competition, and his graduate string quartets were two of the most successful and collegial in recent memory. He was beloved at UMass not only for his exceptional musical talent, but also for his wry sense of humor and the depth and warmth of his friendships.
Kevin served as a counselor at Camp No Worries (photo, Kevin at left), a camp that gives children living with cancer a chance to laugh and be free and forget their cancer diagnosis for a week. Donations may be made in Kevin's memory to Camp No Worries, P.O. Box 810, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held on Friday, June 14th at The Church of The Holy Spirit, 2871 Barney Rd, Harleysville, PA 19438. Reception at 5:30, Memorial concert at 7. Read obituary =>
