The Jazz Workshop highlights the legacy, lineage and pedagogy of Jazz Dance as told by Black Female scholarship. It is a 2-day intensive where students can deepen their study of the many Africanist foundations within the form, and experience how its tutelage benefits a career in dance.
This year we bring master teacher Sheila Barker, who studied under notable Jazz practitioners, Dianne McIntyre, Thelma Hill and Frank Hatchett.
Open to Five College Dance students and anyone who has significant dance training (Dance Team and dance groups are welcome).
