Guest Artist Concert: Ryan Bisson '14, bass trombone and Robert Stahley '14, tenor

With pianist William Braun

Bass trombonist Ryan Bisson joins Metropolitan Opera tenor Rob Stahley and pianist William Braun for “Thine is the Kingdom,” featuring works centered around World War I for Tenor voice, Bass Trombone and Piano.  Each work, or composer was affected by the war, and their experience is encapsulated in their music.  There will be music by Percy Grainger, Charles Ives, William Grant Still and Donald Swann.

The program will also feature new music including a theme and variations for bass trombone and piano, which was adapted by Ryan Bisson and based on the WWI era song "There's a Long Long Trail a Winding" by Zo Elliot and Stoddard King.  The major cornerstone of the program will be a new song cycle by Ben Dondanville and Hutson Rollins, based on the T.S. Eliot poems "The Hollow Men."

Ryan Bisson and Robert Stahley are UMass Amherst alumni who graduated in 2014.

Free and open to the public.
