Anyone, regardless of level, can play in the Symposium Saxophone Ensemble.
Like the rest of the event, the 7:30pm Steven Banks concert is free and open to the public. However, separate (free) tickets are required: More info/tickets =>

2pm - Jazz Recital featuring Erica von Kleist & the UMass jazz faculty combo
3pm - Jazz Clinic with Erica von Kleist: “The Business of the Music Business”
4pm - Panel Discussion: Pedagogy and Artistry
5pm - Participant Concert, featuring the Symposium Sax Ensemble, UMass Sax Ensembles & the winners of the High School classical & jazz competitions
6pm - Dinner break
7:30pm - Recital by Steven Banks & Xak Bjerken in Bezanson Hall; separate (free) tickets required
Competition Timeline / Info
High School Competition timeline:
- First round application due January 15, 2024
- Notification of advancement to the finals, February 1, 2024
- Finals take place at the Symposium, February 24, 2024
