For prospective students and family members, there are many options to consider during a visit:

  • Tour the facility, including studios, rehearsal spaces, and classrooms
  • Sit in on classes or ensembles alongside current UMass students
  • A chance to meet the faculty, including the possibility of sample lessons for students applying to UMass Amherst
  • One-on-one chats about admissions and audition procedures

  • All music faculty offices, staff offices, practice rooms, rehearsal spaces and most classrooms are in the East Wing of the Bromery Center.

  • The Arts Bridge (Level 4) is a multidisciplinary arts space which includes an enhanced music education classroom, seminar spaces, and the Julie C. Hayes and Claude Bersano Recording Studio. Learn more about the Arts Bridge and History of the Bromery Center.

  • Dance classrooms, studios, and rehearsal/performance spaces are being relocated in summer 2026 from the Totman Building to a renovated space at 472 N. Pleasant Street.
  • The main office and faculty offices for the Dance Program are located on the 1st floor of Wilder Hall.

  • While not regularly used as a performance venue, is a major location for rehearsals and classes as well as the center of Marching Band activities on campus.
  • Located on the west side of campus, behind the Recreation Center and close to Hicks Way.
  • Marching Band staff contact information.
  • Parking: For public parking during work hours, the Campus Center Parking Garage is closest. Permit and after-hours parking is available in Lot 64, which is located between the Marching Band Building and the UMass Recreation Center.
