Yahaira Bermudez, microbiology PhD candidate, recently received two awards. On January 23, at the Microbiology Open House, Yahaira was presented with the Curt Thorne "Carry On" Award. The award is given annually to a graduate student based on contributions to the department and their discipline and for serving as a role model to other students.
Additionally, Yahaira was presented with the David V. Pollack Graduate Teaching and Service Award. This award was established in 2024 and the award recipient is chosen based on teaching and service contributions to the department, university, and community, honoring David Pollack's legacy of dedication to research and teaching excellence.
