RoseAnn Vik, a microbiology PhD candidate, was recognized for her excellence in teaching during UMass Amherst’s Graduate Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 17, at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Among her teaching accomplishments, she designed and taught a first-year seminar class, “What Bacteria Can Teach Us About Thriving,” in her role as a UMass College of Natural Sciences Teaching Fellow, and she has been a guest lecturer for multiple 300-level general microbiology courses. In January 2024, she was the recipient of the inaugural Department of Microbiology David Pollack Graduate Teaching Award.
