The Microbiology major provides rigorous training in cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and immunology. Students apply concepts from molecular biology, genetics, environmental systems, and disease with real world results. The biology of microorganisms holds solutions to some of humans’ most pressing problems and keys for how to live healthy, prosperous, and equitable lives.

Our Microbiology BS curriculum meets the American Society for Microbiology’s (ASM) Curriculum Guidelines, ensuring a rigorous and industry-recognized foundation. Our curriculum has been carefully constructed to prepare students for diverse opportunities requiring strong skills and confidence in applying scientific knowledge.
