Veterinary Technology

UMass Amherst will become the degree-granting authority for the veterinary technology program (BS and AA degrees). UMass Amherst will provide a seamless credit transfer for Mount Ida students currently enrolled in this program. This program has received full approval from the UMass Amherst Faculty Senate, the UMass System Office, the Board of Higher Education, and is certified (as of July 13, 2018) by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Students enrolled in the Vet Tech program at Mount Ida College who are in good standing at the end of the Spring 2018 semester are eligible to enroll at UMass Amherst as transfer students. Students who have not yet done so should indicate their interest by registering on the following website, https://yes.umass.edu/register/micvt, being sure to indicate in the comment box whether they are interested in the on-campus housing option, and follow the instructions there on providing their FAFSA to apply for financial aid. UMass Amherst will offer the requisite General Education (core curriculum) courses needed for completion of the program as well as technical classes for the AA and BS Veterinary Technology degrees. The range of choices for the core curriculum courses may be more limited but all courses needed for students to complete the program and graduate on time will be provided. Other services offered to Vet Tech students on the Mount Ida Campus will include on-campus housing (note that capacity is limited), a dining option, library, and academic support services.
