Graduation Celebration 2019

Commencement 2019 is fast approaching! We look forward to celebrating with our graduates, their families and guests.

Graduates are invited to participate in the main Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony being held on the Amherst Campus on Friday, May 10th at 4:30 p.m. rain or shine in McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Read more.

A Graduation Celebration will be held on May 11th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.in Alumnae Hall on the Mount Ida Campus. This page will provide details and updated information to graduates, families and guests about the celebration.

Key Dates and Contact Information

May 6th, 2019

  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.-Graduation Celebration Walkthrough in Campus Center Theater
  • 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.-Graduation Fair and Barbecue in Wingate Function Room in Shaw Hall

May 7th, 2019- Senior Soiree at the University of Massachusetts Club, Boston from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with transportation provided. Graduates should sign up with the Office of Student Life.

May 11th, 2019

  • 8:45 a.m.-Graduate Assembly and Robing in Wadsworth Library
  • 10:00 a.m.-Graduation Celebration in Alumnae Hall with reception in the Main Dining Room in the Campus Center immediately following the ceremony.

Graduation Fair and Barbecue-May 6th, 2019

Join fellow graduates of the Veterinary Technology program for regalia pickup, photos in regalia, cap decorating and barbecue in Shaw Hall/Wingate function room from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Regalia-Orders have been placed for regalia for all graduates. The regalia will be available for pick up at this event.

Photos in Regalia by Ultimate Exposures-Professional portrait photography services for photos in regalia has been arranged with Ultimate Exposures. To schedule a sitting on May 6th please follow these steps:

  • Go to:  www.ultimateexposures.com to schedule your appointment.
  • Click on the Schedule Your Sitting button,
  • Click on Cap & Gown and select the UMass Amherst Mount Ida Campus option.
  • Information will also be sent directly to graduates by email from Ultimate Exposures.

Graduation Celebration and Reception

The Graduation Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Alumnae Hall on the Mount Ida Campus. The program will include the Pinning Ceremony and recitation of the Veterinary Technician Oath. 

Doors to Alumnae Hall will open for guests at 8:30 a.m. to allow guests to be seated in advance of the program. Guests are advised to pack lightly for the day because all items taken into either venue are subject to search.  Alumnae Hall is an accessible venue. Those graduates and families who would like to request accessible seating and parking should submit a request to miceventspace@umass.edu

Guests-Each graduate is welcome to invite up to six (6) guests. Tickets are not required.

Parking-Ample parking including accessible parking will be available. Families and guests will be directed to designated parking areas upon arrival on campus.

Reception-Immediately following the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates, their families and guests are invited to a light luncheon reception at the Main Dining Room  in the Campus Center.

Requests for Accessible Parking and Seating

Graduates and/or family members and guests who are in need of accessible parking or accessible seating inside of Alumnae Hall should email  miceventspace@umass.edu to make a request for accommodations.
