Rethinking European Cultural Studies In 2001/2002, the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus was the site for many new lectures and discussions relating to the study of Europe. In the Fall, faculty in the social sciences and humanities participated in a seminar aimed at "rethinking" the ways we study and teach about European societies and cultures in light of new processes of globalization, immigration flows, and emergent hybrid or postnational identities. Spring 2002 graduate students interested in European Studies organized an exciting series of roundtable discussions to continue the dialogue. Faculty from around the Five Colleges presented brief talks aimed at generating discussion.
