Professor Paul Hacking was named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, a "class of mathematicians recognized by their peers as distinguished for their contributions to the profession." He joins Professors Panos Kevrekidis, Andrea Nahmod, and Floyd Williams as fellows among the UMass faculty.
In addition, at the first International Congress of Basic Science, held in the summer of 2023 in Beijing, Professor Hacking was awarded a prize for the paper ``Canonical bases for cluster algebras,'' along with his coauthors Mark Gross, Sean Keel, and Maxim Kontsevich.
