Some preliminary remarks of an intuitive nature are offered to indicate the concept of a black hole being an object so dense that even light has no escape from it. We indicate, for example, that if our
sun, of radius some 400,000 miles, were shrunk to a radius of 2miles, it would become a black hole. The main focus would be on the Kruskal- Szekeres extension of the Schwarzschild black hole metric solution of the Einstein gravitational field equations.
