Brody Lynch: How do mathematicians measure size?
In this talk, I will discuss many ways mathematicians have of quantifying the “size” of a set. We will compare and contrast various approaches to this quantification including cardinality, measure, and denseness. Next, we will focus on the idea of (natural) density. Density in number theory allows us to answer questions such as “What portion of integers are prime?” or “What portion of prime numbers have last digit 1?” We will find the answers to questions like these and more!
