Part I presented classical aspects of the Schwarzschild black hole geometry. In Part II we will introduce a scalar quantum field, different Hilbert spaces each which defines particles in a natural way for different observers, and sketch Hawking’s calculation of the emission of quantum particles. This discussion will highlight where the black hole geometry comes in at key steps to give the result that the radiation spectrum is a black body, with temperature proportional to the surface gravity (a geometrical property) of the black hole.
