Mathematics and Statistics Peer Advising
Peer advising is available to Math & Stat majors in rooms 1625A and 1625B in the Lederle Graduate Research Tower, as well as remotely via zoom. In-person options can be by appointment or drop-in, and remote options are by appointment. Schedule an appointment using Navigate.
All peer advisors can help with basic questions, for example, the requirements of the different Math & Stat concentrations, using Spire, GenEds, etc. They can also discuss their experiences with courses, internships, applications, and other activities. However, questions on more advanced courses in Math & Stat may be better directed to the advising office or a faculty advisor.
We invite undergraduates to meet with Peer Advisors who have experience in their areas of interest. The weekly schedule is below, as well as more info on the peer advisors.

Peer Advisors
Hello! My name is Sabrina Nguyen and I'm currently a Senior pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematical Computing and I'll be graduating this Fall 2024 semester. I have recently completed a full-stack software engineering internship this past Summer at Liberty Mutual Insurance and my dream is to become a video game developer one day! I am also an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UGTA) for the Math and Stats Department in my 5th semester as a TA! Aside from academics, I am currently the President of the UMass Chapter of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) where we aim to support Asian heritage STEM students reach their full professional potential. I love performing the Chinese yoyo with UMass TASC, playing video games, and hanging out with my friends! Hello! My name is Xi (Pronounced as "C"). I am a Senior major in Mathematics with concentrations of Actuarial Science. I want to pursue Actuary as my career but I am also interested in continuing my education with 4+1 Master program in Statistics at UMass. I passed the FM exam during the summer and am looking forward to landing an internship with an insurance company next summer. Outside of academics, I am the treasurer of the Association for Women in Math which is a place for women in Math to build connections and inspire each other. I am also a member of the Gospel Choir at UMass because I love singing. I also like to workout, watch various kinds of TV dramas, and try out delicate cuisines in different places.
