Pilot Project Goal: Enable large-scale monitoring of vital signals and early detection of emergency situations in homes and independent/assisted living communities.
The elder population in the US is growing, and with that growth comes an increase in the need for home healthcare services. Technology development in this field has lagged compared to other healthcare areas such as mobile healthcare and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine. Dr. Yeonsik Noh and Dr. Cynthia Jacelon’s project, Home Healthcare Monitoring Based on a Cloud Native Architecture, developed a home healthcare platform that will enable large-scale monitoring of vital signals such as heart rate, respirations, and temperature and thus enable early detection of emergency situations in both private homes and independent assisted living communities. The Noh-Jacelon team anticipates that the implementation of the platform will ensure that older adults receive the care they need.
