The Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation has joined the National Infusion Collaborative (NIC), a network of healthcare institutions dedicated to advancing the standards and practices of infusion therapy nationwide. The NIC partnership will bring technology, a clinical solutions team of knowledgeable professionals, and network benchmarking from the leading infusion community in the United States.
In addition to the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation at UMass Amherst, the National Infusion Collaborative has members, including Purdue University and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
"We are pleased to welcome the UMass Amherst Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation to the National Infusion Collaborative," said Sean O’Neill, Co-Chair of the NIC. "Their dedication to providing insights into patient care trends with medication technology aligns with our mission to continually improve the standards of infusion pump best practices. Together, we will foster innovation and enhance clinical outcomes for patients nationwide."
Co-Directors Karen K. Giuliano, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Frank Sup, PhD shared that this new partnership would “allow us to continue our commitment to help provide the best possible infusion care to our patients by leveraging the latest innovations and evidence-based practices. We look forward to contributing to and benefiting from this national network of expertise." The Center’s active program of laboratory and clinically based research on the safety and usability of IV Smart pumps means that collaboration with NIC will enable us to bring forth the latest research, technology, and best practices to deliver safe and effective patient care.
