Meadow,
Kinney Center for Renaissance Studies

FRI 11:24 AM

UMass Grounds Services hosted several new—and woolly—faces when a flock of sheep from the Hadley Farm sustainably “mowed” the meadow behind the Renaissance Center in September. This event, along with one held in April 2022 near the Business Innovation Hub, was organized by Sustainable EweMass, a group of professors and students across departments working to provoke questions about sustainability and land use. “The way we manage our lands is a reflection of our values,” says professor Britt Crow-Miller of the group. She hopes these green grazers are just the start of nurturing a more sustainable campus ecosystem, for “the health of our campus community—both our ecological community and our human community.”
