LSAMP at UMass Amherst is designed to implement and enhance programs that encourage and support students in the STEM fields.
Funding for on-campus research and for conference expenses is available for qualified LSAMP Scholars by application.
LSAMP offers two 2-credit seminars that support students in reaching their academic and career goals.
The LSAMP program provides funding to help support undergraduate research in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) laboratories. The LSAMP program is for underrepresented students who self-identify as African-Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Hispanic Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. Research projects are directed and sponsored by STEM research faculty, and participants will work under their mentorship. There are a series of programs and activities for LSAMP participants that include seminars on undergraduate research, invited speakers, and opportunities for students to present their work.
