ULA Scholarships Available - Apply by March 8 [1]
We're excited to announce scholarships for qualifying students entering our Union Leadership and Activism (ULA) program this summer. This is a special opportunity to start working on your masters degree in Labor Studies at a substantially reduced cost.
The ULA program is designed for union officers, staff, and activists, who attend 4 ten-day sessions held in January and July. Coursework helps develop practical skills in organizing, strategic corporate research, collective bargaining and labor law. We also teach analytical skills through labor history and exploring current issues in labor.
Elaine Bernard, ULA faculty member and former director of the Harvard Trade Union Program, highly recommends the program saying, “Union activists, staff and leaders often tell me that the UMass Masters Degree in Labor Studies which combines strong academic content with hands-on experiential learning is the program they wished they had taken when they went to university. The good news is that they can still do it, without taking a year off, or leaving their job. The ULA Limited-Residency Program curriculum is just the program they are looking for to step out of their day to day challenges and develop new skills, ideas and relationships for forging a strong union movement and a just and democratic society.”
