A number of Teaching Assistantships (TAs) are available each year. Recipients earn a weekly stipend as well as receiving a tuition waiver. To apply for these positions, simply check the relevant box in the application for admission, indicating that you are interested in an assistantship.
Internships with labor and community groups may also be available. These Internships also provide a stipend and a tuition waiver. If you are interested in an internship, please contact us.
Financial aid, including grants, work-study, or loans, is available through the University Financial Aid Office. Students interested in applying for financial aid should contact Graduate Financial Aid Services, email@example.com, 243 Whitmore Administration Building, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003, or call (413) 577 0801. Students interested in financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before March 1 for the following Fall semester and by October 15 for the Spring semester.
International students may be eligible for tuition waivers through the International Programs Office at the William S. Clark International Center on the fourth floor of Hills South, (413) 545 2710.
The AFL-CIO’s Union Plus benefits program offers scholarships from $500 to $4000 to help union members further their education. For more information, go to the Union Plus Scholarship webpage.
UMass offers an installment payment plan (UPay) for tuition payment. UPay is not a loan program, so there are no interest or finance charges. Payments are automatically deducted through your checking/savings account or credit card. You can find more information on UPay here.
