Nahla Khalil

Nahla Khalil is a senior lecturer in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at UMass Amherst. She received her PhD in literature and literary theory from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Before joining the Dept. of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at UMass Amherst, Nahla was a visiting scholar in the Department of English at UMass during her PhD and taught at Amherst College, Smith College and The Five College Center for the Study of World Languages as a post-doctoral fellow. She has received grants from the Institute of International Education and the Fulbright Foundation to study at George Washington University, UC Santa Cruz and Saint Michael's College. Nahla has served as a guest editor and is a contributing editor of Metamorphoses (The Five College Journal of Literary Translation).

Nahla's research interests include Arab and Arab American literature, literary theory, translation and cultural studies.
