Welcome to Thatcher Residence Hall!

About the Community

Thatcher Hall houses both first year and multi-year communities.

The second floor is part of the Residential First-Year Experience (RFYE). RFYE halls are designed as living-learning communities where first-year students can engage with their peers around common interests and pursuits. First-year halls offer intentional staffing and support to assist students in their transition to the University.  For information about Residential Academic Programs available in Thatcher, visit the RAP website.

All other floors are multi- year communities. Multi-year communities are designed to provide sophomores, juniors and seniors with enriching experiences, autonomy and self-discovery, continued learning and connections with a diverse group of UMass Amherst students.

Thatcher Hall is a multi- year community. Multi-year communities are designed to provide sophomores, juniors and seniors with enriching experiences, autonomy and self-discovery, continued learning and connections with a diverse group of UMass Amherst students. Thatcher is also home to the Thatcher Language & Culture House which features living/learning programs in French, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, German and Spanish.
