Early Arrival Move-In (Fall 2024)

Make a Move-In Reservation

All students must complete their Move-In Reservation on SPIRE to determine their Move-In time.  Please remember to bring your Boarding Pass and a photo ID to receive your key.

Summer Transitions

Members of the UMass Marching Band will check into their Conference Housing assignment beginning Thursday, August 22.  On Monday, August 26, students will check into their fall assignments at the Crampton Computer Lab, located on the ground floor of Crampton Hall between 7:00am and 8:30am.  The UMass Marching Band will collect student belongings that morning and will provide moving assistance around 11:00am when practice releases for the day.

Students attending the Biology Intensive Orientation will check into their Conference Housing Assignment on Friday, August 23.  On Monday, August 26, students will check into their fall assignments at the Crampton Computer Lab, located on the ground floor of Crampton Hall, between 7:00am and 8:30am.

Students in the above groups will select a reservation time.  Please remember to sign the Key Agreement and print your boarding pass in SPIRE. Students must also have their Ucard or provide a photo ID at check-in.

Summer Session Residents

Summer Session Residents will check into their Summer Housing Assignment at the CHCRC Residential Service Desk.  On Sunday, August 25 students will check in at their fall Residential Service Desk and move their belongings.  Once they have moved their belongings to their Fall assignment, they will then check out of their summer assignment at the CHCRC Residential Service Desk between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM.  Student will choose a   Please remember to sign the Key Agreement in SPIRE. Students must have their Ucard or provide a photo ID at check-in.

Minute Movers and Approved NSOT Volunteers

Minute Movers and Approved NSOT volunteers will check in on Monday, August 26 at their Residential Service Desk.  Students in these groups will select from 30-minute reservation times in SPIRE.  Students are expected to bring their Ucard or a photo ID for check-in, but are not required to print their boarding pass.

International Student Orientation

Students attending the International Student Orientation will check into their fall housing assignment on Monday, August 26 between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM at their Residential Service Desk.  Students attending this program will select from 30-minute reservation times in SPIRE.  Students bring photo ID for check-in.

Other Approved Groups

Students with a Disability Services accommodation and select other students will check into their fall housing assignment on Monday, August 26 between 8:00am and 10:00pm at their Residential Service Desk.  Students in this program will select from 30-minute reservation times in SPIRE.  Students are expected to print their boarding pass and bring their Ucard or a photo ID for check-in.

Moving Bins During Early Arrival

Students moving in to residence halls with elevator access on Monday, August 26 sign out moving bins.  Bins will be available on Monday from 8:00am-8:00pm.  Bin sign-out stations will be centrally located at the following locations:

Northeast, Orchard Hill, CHCRC, Southwest (Moore Hall, Kennedy/Coolidge, Washington/JA and Sunset Avenue near Patterson/Mackimmie).

Bins will be available to sign out from your Residential Service Desk when bin sign out stations are closed. 

What if I can't arrive during Move-In?

Students seeking early arrival due to ticketed travel or family hardship may do so by completing the Early Arrival Request Form.  Students who are members of approved early arrival groups needing to arrive prior to their scheduled date should not use this form. Please contact your program’s staff to make arrangements.

Students who are unable to arrive during available Move-In Reservation times should contact Residential Services. If you plan to arrive after 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, contact Residential Services to request a Late Arrival. If you do not request a late arrival, your assignment may be cancelled as a “no-show” and you will be subject to the Contract Cancelation Fee schedule.
