General Overview

Fearing Street and Sunset Avenue will be converted to one-way streets. The SW concourse will allow vehicle traffic from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. to enter from Fearing Street and load for Kennedy, Washington, JQA and Coolidge. Concourse traffic will exit using the SW tunnel and Lot 71 access. Please see details by hall below or view map.

If your student is not ready when you arrive on campus you may wait in Lot 33 or Lot 22.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: On Friday, May 17th Graduate Commencement will be taking place at McGuirk Stadium.  To support this major event, the section of University Drive in Southwest will be closed to traffic from 8AM – 2PM, making access to some residence halls more challenging. If you cannot avoid moving out during this time frame, please take note of the move out directions specifically for the halls listed below or click here.

Halls with an * will experience the most impact of this road closure.

Southwest Traffic Directions (5/16 & 5/17)

The following traffic directions are for Thursday, May 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 17 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.

IMPORTANT:
 
Vehicles over 9 feet in height are not permitted through the SW tunnel and should seek alternate exit assistance from UMPD on site.

  • Cance: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter Washington Lot 50 and load in parking lot adjacent to Washington Hall. Exit using SW tunnel.
     
  • Coolidge: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter Washington Lot 50 and proceed down concourse to Coolidge Hall and load in front of Coolidge. Exit using SW tunnel.
     
  • Crampton: Enter Sunset Ave going one way from Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to hall and load on Sunset Ave.
     
  • Emerson: Enter the SW horseshoe from University Drive and load on horseshoe or in parking lot adjacent to Emerson Hall.
     
  • James: Enter at James Drive off of Massachusetts Avenue and load in parking lot adjacent to James Hall.
     
  • John Adams: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter JA Lot 50 and load in parking lot adjacent to JA Hall. Exit out onto Fearing Street taking a left ONLY.
     
  • John Q Adams: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter Washington Lot 50 and proceed down concourse to south side of JQA Hall and load on concourse. Exit using SW tunnel.
     
  • Kennedy: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter Washington Lot 50 and proceed down concourse to Kennedy. Exit using SW tunnel.
     
  • MacKimmie: Enter Sunset Ave going one way from Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to hall and load on Sunset Ave.
     
  • Melville: Using Massachusetts Avenue, enter driveway adjacent to Melville and load in parking lot adjacent to Melville. Exit using SW tunnel Moore: Enter the SW horseshoe from University Drive and load on horseshoe or in parking lot adjacent to Moore Hall.
     
  • Moore: Enter the SW horseshoe from University Drive and load on horseshoe or in parking lot adjacent to Moore Hall.
     
  • Patterson: Enter Sunset Ave going one way from Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to hall and load on Sunset Ave.
     
  • Pierpont: Enter the SW horseshoe from University Drive and load on horseshoe or in parking lot adjacent to Pierpont Hall.
     
  • Prince: Enter Sunset Ave going one way from Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to hall and load on Sunset Ave.
     
  • Thoreau: Using Massachusetts Avenue, enter driveway adjacent to Thoreau and load in parking lot adjacent to Thoreau. Exit onto Massachusetts Avenue.
     
  • Washington: Enter Fearing Street from University Drive going one-way, enter Washington Lot 50 and proceed around Washington to north side of Washington hall and load on concourse. Exit using SW tunnel.
