Family Housing Occupancy License
Effective September 3, 2024: University Village has limited vacancies available for move in during the Fall 2024 semester. Applications from families with dependent children will continue to be prioritized when determining who will be accepted. We are not accepting applications with an anticipated move in date on or after February 1, 2025.

To be eligible to live in Family Housing, you must be a fully matriculated UMass undergraduate or graduate student, single, married or in a domestic partnership AND be living with dependent child(ren) and/or dependent relative(s). The Maximum Occupancy for all units is 4 people, per Town of Amherst Sanitary Code. Minor children are included in the maximum occupancy number.
Undergraduate students who are not married and who do not have dependent children are not eligible for Family Housing, as they are able to live in traditional undergraduate residence halls.
Effective May 16, 2024: We are happy to share we are now able to accept a limited number of applications from couples without dependent children for occupancy beginning on or after June 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all units available for families without dependent children are full. Applications from families with dependent children will continue to be prioritized. Applicants’ ability to remain in family housing beyond June 30, 2025 will be reassessed and communicated to families by February 1, 2025.
In addition, students must be eligible to reside in on-campus housing and are required to sign the Occupancy License in SPIRE under Housing>Room Selection>Occupancy License; Residential Life reserves the right to check student conduct records with the Dean of Students Office to determine eligibility to reside on campus.
