About Family Housing

Situated on beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding a shared community center, playground, and playing fields, the new UMass Amherst University Village community will provide 140 two bedroom townhouses of approximately 1,000 square feet per unit. Developed with sustainability in mind, these units will be LEED Silver certified and construction will make use of 67% less energy than traditional construction methods.

  • Costs and fees set by the university The Base Room Fee for family housing  will be billed to the student on a per semester basis as follows:
    • Fall: $9600 from August 1 through January 31
    • Spring: $8,000 from February 1 to June 30
    • Summer: $1,600 for the month of July
    • The Base Room Fee for University Village can be made in monthly installments

 

Construction Updates

  • Grass area immediately surrounding the community center will be ready for use mid to late September
  • Sports field and all other grass areas will be planted fall 2022 and families will not be able to use those areas until spring 2023
  • Play areas and benches expected to be installed mid to late September
