Residence Halls will close at 10:00am on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Students who fail to vacate by this time will be subject to a $150 Unauthorized Occupancy Fee. Halls will reopen at 10:00am on Sunday, March 17, 2019.
Break Housing halls remain open during spring break. Students living in Break Housing halls should review the changes in service at their Residential Service Desk and Dining Services.
Spring Break Vacate Checklist
Close and secure windows in your room and turn off lights.
Take out any recyclables or trash.
Pack and bring any valuables, medications or items you may need over Spring Break. You will not be able to access your hall until March 17, 2019 at 10:00am. Also, pack any items you may not need for the remainder of the semester.
Turn off and unplug all electronics except for refrigerator units.
Vacate your room by no later than 10:00am on March 9th.
Residential Life Facilities Operations staff and Environmental Health and Safety will conduct ongoing inspections of rooms during Spring Break. Inspections consist of visual surveys of rooms. Illegal items and other policy violations in plain view will be documented and referred to the appropriate authorities.
Take all essential and valuable items with you when you vacate for Spring Break. Residents are not allowed access to the Residence Halls during Spring Break. The University does not guarantee the security of property left in the residence halls and does not carry insurance that compensates residents for losses due to fire, theft, water damage, etc.
Temporary Break Housing
Students currently living in a non-break housing residence halls who need housing over the break period are strongly encouraged to contact our office to discuss options. Temporary accommodations are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. Students can also discuss a permanent reassignment to an available space in a break housing hall.
Break Housing Service Changes
North, Lincoln, Brett, Cashin, Johnson, Prince Residence Halls will remain open over Spring Break. Approved residents in Gorman are also able to remain over Spring Break. Gorman residents who wish to stay on campus must contact Residential Life Student Services for approval before March 8, 2019.
Spring Break Residential Service Desk Hours
Your Residential Service Desk will be open the following hours over Spring Break:
- Traditional RSD’s will close for Spring Break at 11pm on Friday, March 8th
- Break Housing RSD hours during the break period (March 9 – 17) will be: M-F 8:30am – 5:00pm Sat – Sun Noon – 6:00pm (closed 3p-3:30 for break)
- All RSD’s will open on Sunday, March 17th 10:00am – 11:00pm

Lockout Assist Service in Brett, Gorman, Prince, Cashin and Johnson
Students who lock themselves out of their room during Residential Service Desk Hours can contact the Residential Service Desk to request a Lockout Assist. Students who lock themselves out of their room outside of Residential Service Desk Hours should contact the RA On-Duty. The number is available in your residence hall. Requesting a Lockout Assist requires staff to come directly to your room to unlock your door and verify that you have your room key. Please note that there is a $25 Lockout Assist Fee which will be applied to the student’s Bursar bill.
Lockout Assist Service in Lincoln and North
Students who lock themselves out of their room during Residential Service Desk Hours can contact the Residential Service Desk to request a Lockout Assist. Students who lock themselves out of their room outside of Residential Service Desk Hours should contact Emergency Maintenance at 413-545-0812. Please note that there is a $25 Lockout Assist Fee which will be applied to the student’s Bursar bill.
Campus Dining Options Over Spring Break

Standard mail and package delivery will operate normally only in Break Housing Halls over Spring Break. All other package and letter mail will be held until residence halls reopen on March 17th.
