Medical accommodations are granted based on level of necessity and space availability. Not every student who requests an accommodation such as a private room will be granted an accommodation. Some examples of medical accommodations include, but are not limited to: proximity to bathroom, elevator access, assignment without carpet for students with severe allergies, etc.
Priority of assignment is given to students who are referred from agencies covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (see Disability Accommodations). Some students may find that Residential Life cannot adequately meet their housing needs and may pursue appropriate accommodations through the housing exemption process.
Requesting a medical accommodation:
1. Email your housing accommodation request to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:

c. Accommodation needed
2. You will receive an email with the Medical Accommodation Form attached. Both you and your physician will need to complete the form and send it to the Medical Director’s Office (listed on the form).
3. If the accommodation is approved, the Medical Director’s Office will contact Residential Life Student Services on your behalf. It may take up to 15 business days for our office to receive your accommodation. Once the accommodation has been received in our office, it will be in effect for the next assignment process.
