Facilities Operations Student Positions

Summer Positions | Application Process

Facilities Operations employs many students throughout the summer to help maintain and improve our residence halls. Student employees will be based out one of four locations: West (Southwest/CHCRC), East (Ohill/Central/Northeast/Sylvan/North), Central Services, and the Operations Center. Students interested in working over the summer should review the available postilions below. Eligible students must be enrolled for at least 6 credits for the fall semester. In addition, most positions require a commitment to work during Fall Move-In and may require a valid driver's license. 

Summer Positions

Office Assistant
Starting salary: $13.00
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week over summer
Hours: Monday – Friday  7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Duties include:

  • General office tasks such as cutting/closing work orders in TMA system (maintenance system).  Answering telephones, sorting mail, filing, scanning and copying documents, data entry, and various projects as needed.
  • Work in key office distributing keys.

Qualifications:

  • Customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills

Housing Operations Crew
Starting salary: $13.00
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week over summer
Hours: Monday – Friday  7:00 am –  3:00 pm

Duties include:

  • Provide, inspect, and repair furniture for student rooms, lounges, and staff in Residence Halls.
  • Deliver ordered material and supplies throughout area.
  • Transport construction debris from area to transfer station.
  • Receive store and inventory materials for HOA storerooms.
  • May provide coverage for key office. 

Qualifications:

  • Class D license required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 

Maintenance/Paint Assistant
Starting salary: $13.00
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week over summer
Hours: Monday – Friday  7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Duties include:

  • Painting student rooms and public spaces within the residence halls.
  • Assisting trades staff on maintenance concerns and projects within the residence halls.     
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred painting and trades experience.
  • Ability to be trained painting and maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and climb ladders.
