UMass Amherst Residential Life employs approximately 350 staff members and provides a large number of student employment opportunities. If the idea of working with one of the largest and most diverse resident student populations in the nation strikes you as exciting and challenging, UMass Amherst Residential Life may be the place for you. Residential Life is comprised of the three units described below.
Residential Life Facilities Operations
Serve the general maintenance needs of students living in residence including, but not limited to, common space and room turn-over cleaning, furniture and hardware repair and replacement; general carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and more. Respond to emergency concerns and i-service requests, engage in deferred maintenance planning, staff a 24/7 call center operation, and oversee the Residential Life vehicle fleet.
Residential Life Residence Education
Provide direct support for students living in residence including, but not limited to, hall programming/curricula, conduct processes, on-call and crisis intervention, student area government advising, hall leadership opportunities, and one-on-one student supports and referrals.
Residential Life Student Services
Oversee the University-wide move-in process, lead hall opening and closing procedures, support open house and campus tour initiatives, manage all student assignments and related billing, and coordinate keys/lock-outs and packages. Facilitate Residential Life sustainability, marketing/communications, and other large scale initiatives.
