Junior Year Writing (JYW, 3 credits)
The Junior Year Writing (JYW) requirement is met by taking any linguistics course that counts towards the JYW requirement. A current list of Linguistics JYW courses can be found on the Linguistics Major and Requirements page. The Junior Year Writing requirement does not need to be satisfied in your junior year.
Integrative Experience requirement (IE, 3 credits)
The Integrative Experience (IE) requirement is met by taking any Linguistics department IE course. A current list of Linguistics IE courses can be found on the Linguistics Major and Requirements page.
Other major requirements
A grade of C or better must be earned in any course used to satisfy major requirements.
A minimum of 18 credits of Linguistics and/or Psychology courses numbered 300 and above is required. Up to 6 units of Honors Thesis 499T may be used to satisfy this requirement.
College graduation requirements: HFA Foreign Language requirement. All students must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language at the intermediate level.
