Master of Regional Planning Candidate
Bio Ben Lovejoy graduated from Trinity College in 2015 after spending 10 years cooking professionally in and around the Hartford area. He was born and raised in Connecticut and takes great pride in being involved locally in his community. In 2018 he found himself working in state level political campaigns and ultimately secured a victory for the 9th Senate District as Senator Matthew Lesser's Campaign Manager. After this win he landed his current role with the Connecticut Senate Democrats as the Clerk of the Legislative Committee on Energy and Technology. During his time serving with the committee he was involved in the passing of landmark legislation that set the groundwork to expand Connecticut's offshore wind energy.development and infrastructure. He had always dreamed of becoming an Urban Planner but being part of this process made him realize how regional planning and specifically green infrastructure development is where he would like to focus his attention. He enters the Regional Planning program with an optimistic outlook that even at this moment when the resolve of the country is truly being tested that we are presented with a chance to learn from the mistakes of our past and create a better future. He sees the role of the planner as being absolutely critical at this juncture and is excited to gain the skills to be able to do his part towards creating this better tomorrow.
