Center for Resilient Metro-Regions

The Center for Resilient Metro-Regions (CRM) draws from the expertise of faculty and students at the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning to provide strategic planning and design services for communities. Working at a range of scales, from small towns to complex metropolitan regions, CRM conducts applied research with a focus on sustainability, climate resilience, green infrastructure, open space, land use, housing, and economic development. Community-driven projects are often organized as studio projects. These projects provide service-learning opportunities for UMass students and offer benefits for the communities that fund the studios. CRM also collaborates with communities through consulting contracts and student internships.
