12 UMass students competed in the 2025 National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC) on March 19-22th at Colorado State University. During this annual, three-day competition, top industry companies create and judge 28 different events that test students’ skills and knowledge.
The UMass team was comprised of students from Landscape Contracting, Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Landscape Architecture, Turf Grass Management, and Horticultural Science, supervised by LARP Professor Michael Davidsohn from Stockbridge Professor Kristina Bezanson. Victories included Dante Filadoro, Jake Rasmuson, and Matteo Mariano's 3rd place finish in the Landscape Plant Installation event; James Walston, who placed 3rd in 3D Exterior Design; and Eli Spencer who took 2nd in Interior Landscape Design.
