The Department celebrates four landscape architecture students who received 2025 ASLA Student Awards in recognition of their outstanding academic character. Each student presented several projects to a jury from the Boston Society of Landscape Architects to represent their academic accomplishments at UMass and their future direction as aspiring landscape architects.
Rachel Pranga, a recipient of the ASLA Honor Award, stated:
“I'm so thankful to have been given the opportunity to share a sample of the work I've created during my time at UMass. It's been really inspiring to look back upon how much I've learned and grown over the past few years, and I'm so grateful for the community that's supported me along the way!”
Sneha Vithal Shinde, who also received an Honor Award, said:
"Winning the ASLA Award affirms my belief that design rooted in empathy can transform even the most overlooked spaces into places of belonging. From the dense high-rises of Mumbai to the heat-stressed streets of Bangkok and the community parks of Massachusetts, each project taught me that landscape architecture is not just about planting, it’s about listening, healing, and grounding people in place."
