The UMass Center for Resilient Metro Regions (CRM) at LARP has partnered with the Windham Regional Commission and the Architects Foundation to launch the project, House Us: Jamaica Londonderry Weston Winhall. The team is working with communities across four small towns in Vermont (Londonderry, Jamaica, Weston and Winhall) to assess housing needs and develop recommendations for potential solutions. In September, the team hosted community meetings and workshops at Flood Brook School in Londonderry, and presented a four-town housing needs assessment to the public. These efforts may ultimately provide lessons and guidance for other rural areas impacted by competition for housing from second home and short-term rentals.
UMass LARP Professor Elisabeth Infield and CRM Director Wayne Feiden are co-PIs on the project. Students Grace Kirkpatrick (BSLA & BSSCD), Nicole Krantz (BSSCD), Amelia Lavallee (MRP), and Sara Nusair (RP PhD) are all on the project team.
