Rebecca A. Bachand
Waugh Alumni Board Member, Landscape Architect
After earning a bachelor of science in landscape architecture from UMass Amherst in 1998, Rebecca Bachand, PLA, LEED AP, went from a summer as a horticulture intern at a Cape Cod Botanical Garden to small and medium Boston-area landscape architecture firms. Primarily focused on design and permitting of assisted and senior living, multi-unit and affordable housing, after her employer was acquired by Stantec, Rebecca teamed up with a fellow UMASS LA&RP alum to create a small practice.
Now on her own with RBLA Design LLC, a certified Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) in Massachusetts, Rebecca’s clients are largely non-profit developers of affordable rental and home ownership properties. Occasionally, a public park or playground makes its way to the boards, just for fun!
Rebecca is currently revisiting her UMASS Commonwealth Scholar project on Sensory and Healing gardens for a project with the Charles River Center in Needham, MA.
