Jessie Crowley Waisnor
Waugh Alumni Board Member, Landscape Architect
Jessie Crowley Waisnor received her BSLA from UMass Amherst in 2002. She then spent a year at the University of Michigan working on a Master’s in Landscape Architecture. After leaving Michigan she worked at a large plant nursery where she gained skills in plant identification, planting design and care. She then switched gears and went to work at Brown, Richardson and Rowe (BRR) a private firm that focuses on public work. Jessie spent ten years at BRR working on a large variety of public projects as a designer and project manager. Some of those projects included the Cape Cod Rail Trail, Barnstable Airport, Chatham Bars Inn Spa, BCBS Headquarters, Salem Courthouse and many more. During her time there she also worked at the Boston Architectural College as a teacher in the Landscape Architecture Department teaching planting design and intro studio classes.
After her time at BRR, she moved onto work at a small startup design build company Urbgardens in the South End of Boston. While there Jessie designed a large variety of urban residential landscapes that included both backyards and roof decks. She also worked on site, designing and installing planters and seasonal outdoor décor. After her time there Jessie worked for herself on residential design and consulting work with Landscape Architect offices. During that time, she also started working part-time for the Town of Brookline in the Parks in Open Space Division which eventually turned into a full-time position. Her work for the Town includes signage design, community events, planning, playground and park design with a specific focus on playground design. Jessie is a registered Landscape Architect, Certified Playgrounds Safety Inspector and OSHA Certified.
