Christine Brestrup
Waugh Alumni Board Member, Former Planning Director
Christine Brestrup is a member of the Waugh Alumni Board at UMass Amherst and is the former Planning Director for the Town of Amherst, MA. She served in that position for 8 years, before retiring in September 2024 and now works part time for the Amherst Planning Department.
Christine worked for several years with Elizabeth Thompson, an alumna of UMass LARP, in a two-person landscape architecture firm, focusing on residential and public landscape design. Prior to that Christine taught at the Conway School of Landscape Design and in UMass studio classes. Christine also practiced landscape architecture for several years with John G. Crowe Associates, a landscape architectural firm in Belmont, MA and at Almer Huntley & Associates in Northampton, MA.
Christine is a Registered Landscape Architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She earned a master's in landscape architecture from UMass Amherst in 1980 and holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Wellesley College.
