CJLS/RISE Fellowship Celebrates Fourth Year of Undergraduate Research

The Center for Justice, Law, and Societies (CJLS), in partnership with the SBS RISE program, recently concluded its fourth year of the RISE Into Research Undergraduate Fellowship. This initiative provides full-time summer funding for SBS RISE students to conduct faculty-mentored research across the social sciences.

 

The 2025 cohort includes (from left to right):

  • Sarah Dienta (Economics): Investigating the long-term impacts of Civil War naval prize payments on African American sailors as a counterfactual model for reparations.
  • Jenelle Donahue (Sociology): Exploring storytelling as a method for understanding and communicating experiences of sexual violence and harm.
  • Robert Long (Communications): Analyzing the political and ethical dimensions of privatized data infrastructures in U.S. city governments.

Not Pictured:

  • Uttara Prakash (Resource Economics): Contributing to a global study on coastal resilience and inclusive economic recovery in post-pandemic communities.
