Q: What are your personal writing goals at the moment?
Although I feel most comfortable writing short stories, I'm currently working on my first novel and some long short stories. I'm curious to see what happens to my characters, thematic energies, and timescapes within these longer forms!
Q: What can your potential students expect to gain from your lab if they enroll this winter?
You can expect to learn how to craft complex characters through empathetic, organic, collaborative writing practices. You can expect to leave with new tools, visions, and processes to craft stories and poems. And, perhaps most importantly, you'll discover a cohort of fellow writers who you can lean on for support, encouragement, and friendship for years to come!
Q: What's inspiring you right now?
Most of my writing engages environmentalism, animal ways of being, and the blurring of animal-human distinctions. Lately, I've found inspiration by reading nonfiction and journalism on sea level rise, extinction, zoos, and weather. This research informs my fiction.
