Q: What are your personal writing goals at the moment?
Mike: I have a few goals right now, including: finishing edits on my novel, adapting my award-winning short story, Joaquin and the Other Mary into a play and drafting/editing a new short story.
Q: What can your potential students expect to gain from your writing lab if they enroll this winter?
Mike: Enrolling in this lab will introduce participants to a ton of techniques, authors and perspectives they’re likely to have never encountered before, giving them a new view of their work and literature as a whole. They’ll leave with plenty of fresh material, some notes and a stronger grasp of all the things that make fiction what it is.
Q: What’s Inspiring you right now?
Mike: At the moment, I’m incredibly inspired by Latin American folk and fairy tales, Derrida’s book on Nietzsche's philosophy as well as a few films. To name some: Brahmāstra: Part One-Shiva (2022), Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022) and Belle (2021).
