Students who were not admitted to the journalism major as incoming first year or transfer students should meet with a journalism advisor to seek admission into the major.
John Ciampa advises students with last names A-K, and Beth Wallace advises L-Z. Students may make an appointment via Navigate and go to "Explore a Major." Please make an appointment with your to-be advisor.
We offer three concentrations in the journalism major: general journalism, public relations and sports journalism. We also offer a sequence of classes within broadcast journalism. These requirements fall under the general journalism track, but students are encouraged to take certain classes in our broadcast studio. Your advisors are here to guide you every step of the way. We encourage you to meet with them at least once a semester.
Any journalism courses already completed or currently enrolled in at the time of admission will be applied to the journalism requirements.
